Northwestern FFA Region Members Assemble Christmas Baskets

The Northwestern region held a meeting on December 17 at Tyler County Fair Grounds.  Members from Blennerhassett, Cameron, Doddridge, Pine Grove, Ritchie, St. Marys and Tyler FFA came together to discuss service projects conducted in their respective communities.  The members had dinner together and then began assembling food baskets.  Each chapter brought items for the baskets and then worked together to fill them with ham, potatoes, beans, yams, green beans, corn, fruit, cranberry sauce, chicken broth, gravy, stuffing, noodles, cake mix,  icing and a hand-made Christmas card. The baskets were wrapped and decorated with a ribbon and bow. Each chapter took home 10 baskets to distribute in their own community.   Sixty-two members and guests were present at this activity.  Nick Beaver of the Tyler FFA learned that "if we all pitch in, more can happen."  When asked about the overall experience Tyler Friend of the Doddridge FFA said “it was a good experience to make food baskets for people who need them."  Thanks to all the members who helped in making the meeting a success.

HAMLIN - In what is fast becoming an annual tradition, the Lincoln County High School chapter of the Future Farmers of America (FFA) is selling poinsettias once again this holiday season.
The Christmas favorite is on sale at the school’s greenhouses in Hamlin.
Students dropped off some specimens, Monday to local businesses who have supported the FFA’s work during the year.
As reported extensively in the Lincoln Journal, this has been a busy year for the FFA chapter, who have attended out of state events, staged their own banquet ceremony and attended the Cabell County Fair.
The Poinsettias are on sale at the school for $10 each. The plants were grown by LCHS FFA students. The greenhouse is open from 8:30am to 6pm, Monday to Friday.
